Courses of Study (Assessments)

The student Degree Plan (opens new window) lists the courses of study (assessments) required to complete an academic program.

A course of study (COS) is comprised of five important aspects:

  • Defined competencies students are required to demonstrate
  • Learning resources needed to gain the competencies
  • Program mentor and course instructor guidance during the development of the competencies
  • Participation in a learning community centered on the competencies
  • The assessments of the competencies

Each course of study is assigned a number of competency units (CUs). Competency units are equivalent to one semester credit of learning.
