AP: Teacher Work Sample (TWS)

The TWS is a major component of your teaching portfolio intended to provide credible evidence that you are able to:

  • Construct and deliver a multi-week instructional unit or learning segment.
  • Construct challenging, meaningful classroom assessments.
  • Effect student pre- to post-test learning gains.
  • Analyze and reflect on your experience to promote your own professional growth.
  • Become a strong contributing member of the teaching profession.

The goal of your TWS is for you to demonstrate that you can deliver an effective multi-week instructional unit, employ meaningful classroom assessments, and have a positive impact on student learning. You will learn to design and implement high quality instruction that employs a range of strategies and builds on your strengths, needs, and prior experiences. Your TWS will demonstrate that your students have gained substantive knowledge and skills from your efforts.
