WGU offers two demonstration teaching cohorts a year – one fall cohort and one spring cohort.
Candidates in the fall cohort start demonstration teaching at the beginning of the school year in August/September.
Candidates in the spring cohort start demonstration teaching after winter break in January/February.
The fall and spring cohorts are timed to correspond with school district calendars as well as WGU’s offering of the required cohort seminar. Demonstration teaching is not available during the summer.
Plan ahead to ensure you have one full term to complete demonstration teaching.
If you are in the fall cohort, your WGU term should begin on August 1.
If you are in the spring cohort, your WGU term should begin on December 1.
Work with your program mentor to plan for this recommended term alignment, when possible, as well as the proper loading of demonstration teaching assessments that you can realistically complete during the term.
