The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) is a Federal law designed to protect the privacy of student education records. Due to FERPA law, WGU may not give out students’ personal information without their written consent. Before the Field Experience team can begin working on a student’s placement, which may require us to provide education related information about them to a district or school, students need to complete an online form in the Field Experience page called "Student Consent to the Release of Educational Records for Field Experience Placement."
Note: The form on the Field Experience page applies only to matters related to Field Experiences. See
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (opens new window) for additional information about FERPA.
Students are encouraged to contact their Field Placement coordinator at email@example.com if they have any questions about this requirement.
