If you are removed or withdrawn from demonstration teaching (DT) due to poor performance, do not have any outstanding disposition concerns, and it has been 12 months or less since you were removed or withdrawn, you may work with your mentor to request to repeat DT in a future cohort by submitting a formal request to repeat DT.
The formal request to repeat DT consists of three sections:
Submit a written request to the Teacher Success team at email@example.com and include the following information:
*In the email subject line state: Formal Request to Repeat DT <<Your Name and Student ID>>
You must include the following items:
Obtain letters that are no more than one year old from educational professionals. Instruct your references to email the letters directly to WGU at firstname.lastname@example.org. The letters must include a telephone number and email address.
You will schedule a time with a Field Experience Coordinator to discuss the details of your individualized plan based on the reasons for your removal from the original cohort.
Once all documentation is submitted and approved, the Teacher Success team will review your formal request to repeat DT and respond within 15 business days.
The formal request to repeat DT through Teacher Success approves or denies you the opportunity to participate in a DT cohort again. After reviewing your request, the Teacher Success team will issue one of following outcomes.
Note: Students may repeat DT only one time after a previous fail. If you fail DT for a second time, Teacher Success will counselor you on your options which may include a program change into a non-licensure program.
