MSSP Observations and Final Evaluation

The practicum requires six observations (one in each of the settings listed below) and one final evaluation at the end of the practicum. Each observation must occur on different days and must last a minimum of 45 minutes, and typically a maximum of two hours.

 

  • Observation MSSP 1: Working with an individual student in an elementary setting. The clinical supervisor (CS) should observe an activity/lesson that addresses one of the short terms goals of the student’s individual education plan (IEP).
  • Observation MSSP 2: Working with an individual student in a secondary setting. The CS should observe an activity/lesson that addresses one of the short terms goals of the student’s IEP.
  • Observation MSSP 3: Working with a small group in an elementary setting. The CS should observe an activity/lesson that addresses one common short term goal from each student’s IEP.
  • Observation MSSP 4: Working with a small group in a secondary setting. The CS should observe an activity/lesson that addresses one common short term goal from each student’s IEP.
  • Observation MSSP 5: Working in an inclusion class or resource room in an elementary setting. The CS should observe an activity/lesson that addresses common short term goals of student IEPs in a larger setting.  
  • Observation MSSP 6: Working in an inclusion class or resource room in a secondary setting. The CS should observe an activity/lesson that addresses common short term goals of student IEPs in a larger setting.
  • Final Evaluation: Occurs at the end of the practicum.
