Midterm and Final Evaluations

The clinical supervisor and host teacher each complete a midterm and final evaluation to review with the teacher candidate, this is in addition to the six observations the clinical supervisor completes and the specific positive feedback and areas for improvement the host teacher provides daily.

Prior to the third observation, the clinical supervisor and host teacher will each complete a midterm evaluation and review it with the teacher candidate during the post observation meeting following the third observation. The midterm evaluation covers the teacher candidate’s overall progress for the first half of the demonstration teaching assignment.

Prior to the sixth observation, the clinical supervisor and host teacher will each complete a final evaluation and review it with the teacher candidate during the post observation meeting following the sixth observation. The final evaluation covers the teacher candidate’s overall progress for the entire demonstration teaching assignment.

If the teacher candidate is in a split placement, the midterm covers the performance during the first placement and the final covers the performance during the second placement.

We expect the teacher candidate to have no more than 4 "0, 1, or 2" by the final evaluation to pass the demonstration teaching assignment. If you do not see continued growth or have concerns about the ability of the teacher candidate to meet all standards by the final observation, please contact the Teacher Success team at teachersuccess@wgu.edu immediately for assistance.
