Pacing Guides: Preparing for Demonstration Teaching

The links below will direct you to a printable Pacing Guide. You will work with your program mentor to select the appropriate Demonstration Teaching (DT) cohort and corresponding Pacing Guide. Please contact your mentor or fieldplacement@wgu.edu if you have questions regarding which Pacing Guide you should use.

You need to complete the following items:

  • Read “How to Use This Guide” inside the guide to understand the Pacing Guide
  • Read “Understanding Progress Checks” inside the guide to understand the deadlines and requirements
  • Work with your program mentor on how best to use and align this “Roadmap” to the timetable for provisional acceptance and full acceptance requirements for the DT cohort. Remember, timeframes in these Pacing Guides are general
  • Review your Pacing Guide in every call with your program mentor to stay on track with the monthly suggestions outlined inside the guide

We encourage you to use the following best practice suggestions:

  • Set clear and detailed goals with your program mentor to meet progress checks outlined in the Pacing Guide
  • Set calendar reminders in your student portal, cell phone, or hardcopy calendar to help stay on track
  •  Share important progress check dates with your personal and professional support systems
  • Reward yourself for your progress! Every step you make counts toward the goal of DT and graduation!
