There is a completion deadline for all teacher performance assessments (TPAs). Unlike other WGU assessments, the completion deadline is in place to encourage you to complete your TPA as close to the end of demonstration teaching as possible since the TPA is based on your actual classroom experiences. You are required to complete your TPA by the following dates:
Fall Cohort: April 1
Spring Cohort: July 1
If you do not complete your TPA by the required completion deadline, the Teacher Performance Assessment Remediation team will work with you on a case-by-case basis to decide whether you will be required to redo your TPA (which may require returning to the classroom) or if you should be counseled to a non-licensure program.
If you are completing the edTPA and you have submitted your work to Taskstream four times or more without receiving a successful review, your Cohort Facilitator will work with you to develop an individualized resubmission plan. The resubmission plan will include a deadline and document if you wish to revise your work and submit for a final Taskstream review, revise your work and send directly to Pearson for scoring, or redo your edTPA (which may require returning to the classroom) and start over with five new Taskstream reviews. . If you do not have a successful review after your 5th review, you may choose to begin a new edTPA or to submit to Pearson. If you submit to Pearson without receiving a successful Taskstream review, you are responsible for the Pearson scoring fee. Please visit WGU Assessment Policies for additional information.
If you are completing the edTPA and you receive a fail from the 3rd party scoring vendor (Pearson), the Teacher Performance Assessment Remediation team will work with you to develop an individualized remediation plan. The remediation plan will identify whether you must revise specific tasks or if you need to redo your edTPA (which may require returning to the classroom). The remediation plan will include a deadline for which you must complete your edTPA.
If your plan requires you to return to the class to redo sections of your TPA, the Field Placement office may be able to assist in finding a placement for you. However, it is ultimately your responsibility to secure a new classroom placement in order to complete your TPA. You will then work with your placement coordinator to confirm this placement.
