Tuition Discounts

WGU partners with various employers, educational institutions, and membership organizations to offer tuition discounts to our students.

  • Employer discounts are for current employees only and are not available to family members.
  • Educational institution discounts are for graduates and institution employees only.
  • Membership discounts are for current members only.
  • Most discounts are 5% off tuition (not fees) for up to 4 terms.
  • Only one discount of any kind can be applied to an account at a time.
  • Discount eligibility must be verified before a discount is applied.

Employer Discount

  • In order to apply for an employer discount, students need to submit verification of employment to discounts@wgu.edu.
  • You must submit one of these two documents:
    • A complete PDF or JPEG copy of your current (dated no more than 30 days prior to the date that we receive it) pay stub. You may black out line items of sensitive information.
    • A signed and dated letter on letterhead from their HR department verifying your current employment.
  • We cannot accept the following to verify employment:
    • W-2
    • Check stub
    • Job offer letter
    • Partial pay stub
  • Employment verification must be submitted annually to continue receiving the discount.

Educational Institution Graduate Discount

  • WGU’s Transcripts department verifies eligibility for educational institution discounts while they are evaluating each student’s transcripts.
  • Graduate discounts continuously roll to each new term until the discount eligibility period has expired.

Membership Discount

  • Students must submit verification of membership to discounts@wgu.edu.
  • You must submit one of these documents:
    • PDF or JPEG of your current, dated membership card
    • Invoice showing payment of your current membership dues
    • Signed letter on letterhead from the organization verifying your current membership
  • We cannot accept the following to verify a membership:
    • Member number/ID
    • Membership card without a date
    • Pay stub
  • Verification must be submitted when membership is renewed to continue receiving the discount.

Verification Timelines

  • Documents must be dated no more than 30 days prior to the date that we receive it.
    • Exception: membership cards and invoices that show the date range of the current membership.
  • For new WGU students, verification documents are valid for up to three months from the date that we received them. After that, new verification documents must be submitted.
    • Exception: Membership cards and invoices, which show the date range of the current membership are valid for the entirety of the membership.
  • Verification must be submitted annually for employer discounts.
  • Verification must be submitted when membership is renewed for membership discounts.
  • Emails will be processed within 3-5 business days.
  • Educational Institution discounts for graduates will be applied within a month prior to the anticipated start date.
  • Discounts can be applied at any point during the term up to and including the very last day of the term.
  • Discounts cannot be applied retroactively to a term that has already been completed.
