Utah NCLEX Registration and RN Licensure Information

This article provides instructions for WGU students registering for the NCLEX-RN and applying for RN licensure in Utah. Begin these steps after you have graduated from your program.

 

 

After Graduation Steps to Register for the NCLEX-RN Examination in Utah

You should apply for licensure and exam eligibility no more than two weeks after graduation. Studies show that graduates who take the NCLEX exam shortly after graduation are more likely to pass on their first attempt.

 

  1. Review state requirements and application instructions: DOPL Initial Nursing Application (opens new window).
  2. Register for NCLEX-RN via Pearson VUE (opens new window):
    • Name: The name on your registration must match your ID. You will not be permitted to test if your name does not match.
    • School Code: WGU’s Utah school code is US38500500.
    • School Location: Salt Lake City, Utah
    • Pay the exam fee: Due upon submittal of registration.
    • My Registration Number: Write down the registration number to enter on your Authorization to Test.
  3. Complete the Request for Authorization to Test (opens new window) via the License E-Government portal:
    • Name: The name on your application must match your ID and WGU degree. You will not be permitted to test if your name does not match.
    • School Location: Salt Lake City, Utah
    • NCLEX Registration Number: From your NCLEX registration
    • Graduation Date: The date shown on your transcripts
    • Pay the application fee: Due upon application
  4. Submit Official Transcripts to UT DOPL: Order official transcripts (opens new window)

    Submit transcripts in WGU-sealed envelope to:

After Graduation Steps to Schedule the NCLEX-RN and Obtain Licensure in Utah

Once the UT DOPL has received your Authorization to Test and official transcripts, it will send exam approval to Pearson VUE.

  1. Receive Authorization to Test (ATT): E-mailed to you from Pearson VUE. Pearson VUE will email you instructions to schedule the NCLEX-RN. You must take the exam before the deadline set by Pearson VUE.
  2. Schedule the NCLEX-RN: Using your ATT, schedule the exam. Your success rate is greater the sooner you take the exam.
  3. Receive Exam Results: UT DOPL will email you your exam results. If you did not pass, you will receive instructions to register for the exam again.
  4. After Passing the NCLEX-RN: Login to your E-Government account (opens new window) and apply for the RN License:
    1. License method: “By Application”
    2. Pay the licensing fee: Due upon application
    3. Complete the fingerprint background check: Complete fingerprinting services at the DOPL office in Salt Lake City.
  5. Receive RN License: UT DOPL will notify you of issuance of your RN license. You can view and manage your license on your E-Government account (opens new window)
