Ethical Principles from the ANA Code of Ethics
WGU nursing students and graduates are held to the same ethical standards set forth by the American Nurses Association (ANA). “The Code of Ethics for Nurses was developed as a guide for carrying out nursing responsibilities in a manner consistent with quality in nursing care and the ethical obligations of the profession.” (nursingworld.org)
On June 30, 2001, the House of Delegates of the ANA adopted a new code of ethics. The provisions as follow are for immediate use in teaching and practice. Refer to the ANA Code of Ethics for additional information on these standards.
