Western Governors University is committed to providing a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff. In addition to the information found in this article, students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to take personal responsibility for their conduct and safety. Faculty and staff are reminded to review the Employee Handbook for additional policies concerning behavior and students can find the Student Code of Conduct in the Student Handbook. The cooperation and involvement of everyone in campus safety is essential to minimize criminal activity.
This report is prepared in compliance with the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) of 1998 and the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 (VAWA). It informs students, faculty, and staff about WGU’s security policies. WGU’s Compliance & Accreditation department is responsible for preparing and distributing this report. Compliance & Accreditation worked with other WGU departments and with local police agencies to compile the security policies and crime statistics included in this report.
We make this report available to all prospective students and employees by publishing it in our publicly accessible web-based student handbook at https://cm.wgu.edu/t5/Student-Rights-Responsibilities/Annual-Security-Report/ta-p/125. Current students and employees receive an email annually that describes the report and its exact web address.
