How to Add an Additional Endorsement

MA Mathematics Education (MAME)

and

MA Science Education (MASE)

A) Adding an Endorsement at the Same Grade Level (Middle > Middle, Secondary > Secondary)

If you wish to add an endorsement at the same grade level as your initial license, you can add them via testing alone in most areas (including the MA Mathematics and MA Science programs. Refer to the web page on Adding a Licensure Area for specific details.

B) Adding an Endorsement Area at a New Grade Level (Elementary > Middle or Elementary > Secondary)

Under Arkansas rules, you may add math and science via testing alone to adjacent grade levels only (K-6 teachers may add 4-8 by testing, 7-12 may add 4-8 by testing, and 4-8 can add either K-6 or 7-12 by testing).

If you are an Elementary teacher and wish to add an endorsement at a 7-12 grade level, you must first receive that endorsement from Utah before an application can be made to add that endorsement to the existing Arkansas license. This means that you must:

1) Apply for your initial license in Utah based on your original license (which includes passing the appropriate Praxis exam for Utah certification and obtaining a Utah background check),
2) Apply for the additional endorsement in Utah after completing your WGU endorsement program by following the appropriate set of instructions: UT Mathematics Endorsement or UT Secondary Science Endorsement, and then
3) Apply for your endorsement in Arkansas using your Utah license.

MS Special Education (MSSP)

and

English Language Learning (ENDELL, MAELL)

If you wish to add Special Education or English as a Second Language, you must first receive that endorsement from Utah before an application can be made to add that endorsement to the existing Arkansas license. This means that you must:

1) Apply for your initial license in Utah based on your original license (which includes passing the appropriate Praxis exam for Utah certification and obtaining a Utah background check),
2) Apply for the additional endorsement in Utah after completing your WGU endorsement program:
