Arkansas Secondary Mathematics Certification and Exam Requirements

Note: WGU students who want to become certified in Arkansas need to first license in Utah after completing their teacher preparation program; a student can then apply for a reciprocal license in AR after receiving their Utah license. Refer to the following for specific state requirements:
general Utah teacher certification requirements and general Arkansas teacher certification requirements.

LICENSE AND EXAM REQUIREMENTS

In Arkansas, this program leads to a certification in Secondary Mathematics, Grades 7-12.

Important Note Regarding Field Experiences and Licensure

Content Exam for Initial Utah Certification: Praxis 5161, Mathematics: Content Knowledge (OR Praxis II 0061  or 5061, Mathematics: Content Knowledge if passed prior to 9/1/2013)

This also fulfills the WGU Program Requirement

Additional Exams May Be Required After Graduation:
When you apply for a reciprocal certificate in AR, you will report your UT test scores, and the state of AR will either accept these in lieu of the AR requirements or issue a one year provisional teaching license. You will then have one year to take any additional tests deemed necessary.
