Secondary Mathematics Certification Available: Preliminary Single Subject Mathematics

Important Note Regarding Field Experiences and Licensure


Graduates of a WGU mathematics grades 5-12 teacher preparation program will be eligible for a preliminary Single Subject Mathematics teaching credential in California, which will allow them to teach in any mathematics classroom in a departmentalized setting.
Required Exams for Licensure
1. Content Exam

CSET Single Subject Mathematics subtests I (211), II (212) and III (213)


Or CSET Single Subject Mathematics subtests I (110), II (111) and III (112) - if passed by 12/28/14

2. WGU Graduation Requirement Exam Praxis 5161, Mathematics: Content knowledge

Note: You must pass all 3 subtests. You can combine older and newer subtests. If you passed one or more subtests of the older CSET: Mathematics subtests (110, 111 or 112) by 12/28/14, your scores remain valid and you will not have to retake those subtests, provided they were taken less than 10 years from the date you apply for licensure. You will only need to take the remaining newer subtest(s). Please note that CSET scores must be used toward a California credential within 10 years of the test date.

All CSET exam scores must be posted to your Degree Plan by June 15th for the September cohort or September 15th for the January cohort.
