CNMI Elementary Education Certification and Exam Requirements

Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Elementary Education Certification and Exam Requirements

WGU students who want to become certified in the CNMI need to first license in Utah after completing their teacher preparation program; a student can then apply for a reciprocal license in the CNMI after receiving their Utah license. Refer to the following for specific state requirements: general Utah teacher certification requirements and 
general CNMI teacher certification requirements.

LICENSE AND EXAM REQUIREMENTS

Elementary Certification Available: Elementary Education, Grades K-6

1) Content Exam for UT Certification: Praxis 5001 Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects  ( OR Praxis 5031, Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects OR if passed prior to September 1, 2012: Praxis 0014 or 5014 , Elementary Education: Content Knowledge)

This exam is required for graduation and recommendation for licensure.


2) Content Exam for NMI Certification: Praxis 5018 Elementary Education: Content Knowledge (OR Praxis 0014 or 5014 , Elementary Education)

This exam is required for graduation and recommendation for licensure.

AND

Praxis 5203 Teaching Reading: Elementary Education

This exam is required for graduation and recommendation for licensure.

 

3) Pedagogy Exam: Praxis 5622 Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades K-6

This exam is required for recommendation for licensure.
