CNMI Middle Grades Mathematics

Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Middle School Mathematics Certification and Exam Requirements

WGU students who want to become certified in the CNMI need to first license in Utah after completing their teacher preparation program; a student can then apply for a reciprocal license in the CNMI after receiving their Utah license. Refer to the following for specific state requirements: general Utah teacher certification requirements and general CNMI teacher certification requirements.

LICENSE AND EXAM REQUIREMENTS

Middle School Mathematics Certification Available:  Middle School Mathematics, Grades 7-8

1) Content Exam for Initial Utah and CNMI Certification: Praxis 5169, Middle School Mathematics

This also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement

This exam is required for graduation and recommendation for licensure. 

2) Pedagogy Exam for CNMI Certification: Praxis 5623, Principles of Learning & Teaching (PLT) - Grades 5-9

This exam is required for recommendation for licensure.
