Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands  Secondary Mathematics Certification and Exam Requirements

WGU students who want to become certified in the CNMI need to first license in Utah after completing their teacher preparation program; a student can then apply for a reciprocal license in the CNMI after receiving their Utah license. Refer to the following for specific state requirements: general Utah teacher certification requirements and general CNMI teacher certification requirements.

LICENSE AND EXAM REQUIREMENTS

Secondary Mathematics Certification Available: Secondary Mathematics, Grades 9-12

Important Note Regarding Field Experiences and Licensure

1) UT and CNMI Content Exam: Praxis 5161, Mathematics: Content Knowledge

This exam also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement.

This exam is required for graduation and recommendation for licensure.


2) CNMI Pedagogy Exam:  Praxis 5624, Principles of Learning and Teaching 7-12

This exam is required for recommendation for licensure.
