CT Adding an Endorsement to a Teaching Certificate

Adding an Endorsement to a Connecticut Teaching Certificate

Background Check for WGU: If you are enrolled in an endorsement program that requires a background check for your practicum, you will only need to complete the Connecticut background clearance requirement. A Utah background check is not required for students enrolled in an endorsement program.

How to Add an Additional Endorsement

All Endorsement Programs

Certified Connecticut educators may add additional endorsements ("cross endorsements") to their existing teaching certificates through the passing of the appropriate Praxis content knowledge exam and the completion of at least 30 semester hours of coursework in the new endorsement area, as prescribed in the CT cross-endorsement regulations. More information is also available on the Connecticut Cross-Endorsements page. See the Application Instructions below.

Application for additional endorsements can be online through the Connecticut Educator Certification System (CECS). You must also compile your Statement of Preparing Higher Education Institution, official transcript(s) of coursework completed in the endorsement area, and official Praxis score report.

Complete the top portion of the Statement of Preparing Higher Education Institution form with your personal information, and send the form to WGU's Licensure Office via e-mail at licensure@wgu.edu or fax to 1-801-401-7961. The Licensure Office will complete the form and mail it back to you to include with your application materials.

Mail your compiled packet to:
