Special Field Experiences Considerations for Connecticut Students
TEACHER OF RECORD POLICY: Students in an Elementary Education initial teacher preparation program who desire to complete student teaching in their own classrooms as paid, contracted teachers must abide by this policy. Students in the Special Education (BASP) program will not be allowed to complete student teaching in their own classrooms as paid, contracted teachers, as per the same policy.
FIELD EXPERIENCE CONSIDERATIONS: Due to recent changes to the rules of the Connecticut Department of Higher Education, students attending out-of-state universities are now permitted to be placed in Connecticut schools for clinical practice, given that the placement is supervised by an in-state university. WGU will do its best to arrange for students living in Connecticut to complete their field experiences in Connecticut public or accredited private schools with an in-state university supervisor, but such in-state placement cannot be guaranteed. Thus, WGU students living in Connecticut must plan for the possibility of placement in a neighboring state.
