DC BA Special Education/ Elementary Education Certification and Exam Requirements

In Washington D.C. this program leads to a Standard Teacher Credential in Elementary Education and Special Education (Non-Categorical).

 

Exam Requirements:

1) Elementary Content Exam: 
Praxis 5001, Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects

You must pass this exam to graduate from your program and be recommended for licensure.

OR Praxis 5031, if passed by 8/31/15 and you apply for licensure by 8/31/18

2) Special Education Content Exam:

Praxis 5354, Education of Exceptional Students: Core Knowledge and Applications

You must pass this exam to graduate from your program and be recommended for licensure.

3) WGU Program Requirement Exam (for students who matriculated on 9/1/2011 or after):

Praxis 5543, Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications

You must pass this exam to graduate from your program and be recommneded for licensure. 

 

4) Pedagogy Exam:

Praxis 5622, Principles of Learning and Teaching, K-6

You must pass this exam to be recommended for licensure.
