DC Basic Skills Requirement

Basic Skills Exam: Beginning 9/1/2019, Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators: Combined Test (5752)

or, if passed by 8/31/2019,  Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators: Combined Test (5751),

or, if passed by 8/31/13, Praxis I: Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST).

The District of Columbia has established the Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core) Test as a mandatory qualifying exam for licensure. You are required to pass all three sections of the Praxis Core examination within the first 6 months of entering the Foundations of Teaching (FOT) domain at WGU.  

 

Alternative Exam Options

The District of Columbia will accept eligible SAT, ACT and GRE scores to meet the reading and math sections Basic Skills exam requirement. The Praxis Core writing section, however, cannot be waived due to SAT, ACT or GRE scores. Click here and see Page 1 for more information.
