DC Basic Skills Requirement

Basic Skills Exam: Beginning 9/1/2019, Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators: Combined Test (5752)

As of Sept. 1, 2019, all test-takers in the District of Columbia for the Praxis Core exam may only register for new version. However, OSSE shall continue to accept scores up through Aug. 31, 2021 from applicants who took and passed the previous version of the Praxis Core exam before 9/1/2019.

or, if passed by 8/31/2019, Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators: Combined Test (5751),

or, if passed by 8/31/13, Praxis I: Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST).

The District of Columbia has established the Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core) Test as a mandatory qualifying exam for licensure. 

 

Alternative Exam Options

The District of Columbia will accept eligible SAT, ACT and GRE scores to meet the reading and math sections Basic Skills exam requirement. The District of Columbia will not waive the Praxis Core writing section, however, due to SAT, ACT or GRE scores. Click here and see Page 1 for more information.
