DC MS Special Education Certification and Exam Requirements

In the District of Columbia, your program leads to a license in Special Education (Non-Categorical).

Exam Requirements: 

 

1) Content Exam: Praxis 5354, Education of Exceptional Students: Core Knowledge and Applications

You must pass this exam to be receommded for licensure.

 

2) Pedagogy Exam: Praxis 5622, 5623 or 5624 Principles of Learning and Teaching exam.

You must pass one of these exams to be recommended for licensure.


3) WGU Program Requirement : Praxis 5543, Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications

(for students who matriculated on 9/1/2011 or after). You must pass this exam to graduate from your program and be recommended for licensure.
