Delaware Educational Leadership Certification Requirements
In Delaware, this program leads to a Educational Leadership Certification Available: School Principal
Delaware has the following requirements for applicants for a standard school principal certificate:
1. CERTIFICATE POSSESSION: Applicant must hold a valid Delaware Initial, Continuing, or Advanced License.
2. DEGREE and PROGRAM: Completion of a master’s degree in educational leadership from a NCATE or state-approved program (where the state approval body employed the appropriate NASDTEC or NCATE specialty organization standards) offered by a regionally accredited college or university.
2. EXPERIENCE A minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience at the level to be initially assigned as a school Principal or Assistant Principal, except at the middle level, where the teaching experience may be at any pK to 12 level,
3. WGU Program Requirement: Beginning 9/1/2018, the WGU program requirement is the Praxis 5412: Educational Leadership: Administration and Supervision for students in Delaware. If passed prior to 8/31/2018, the Praxis 5411: Educational Leadership: Administration and Supervision satisfies the WGU Program Requirement.
