Florida MS Special Education Certification and Exam Requirements

Note: The Florida Bureau of Educator Certification requires that those seeking to add additional subject coverages or endorsement areas to their current teaching certificates apply for the additional certification area before completing coursework and/or testing leading to that additional certification. The Bureau will issue an Official Statement of Status of Eligibility to the applicant outlining requirements for the new area, thus ensuring that the applicant follows the correct path to certification.

In Florida, this program leads to an endorsement in Exceptional Student Education K-12.

1) Content Exam: FTCE Exceptional Student Education K-12 (061)

2) WGU Program Requirement: Praxis 5543, Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications (for students who matriculated on 9/1/2011 or after)

3) Practicum: All WGU students in an MSSP program must complete a 240 hour practicum. If you wish to receive a K-12 endorsement, you need to do your practicum at the K-12 level.
