GA BA Special Education/Elementary Education Certification and Exam Requirements

In Georgia, completion of this program leads to certification in the fields of Early Childhood Education P-5 and Special Education General Curriculum P-12.
 

1) Elementary Education Exam for Georgia:  GACE Early Childhood Education Test I (001) AND II (002)

You must pass both of these subtests to graduate from the program and be recommended for certification. 

 

2) Special Education Exam for Georgia: GACE Special Education General Curriculum Test I (081) AND Test II (082).

You must pass both of these subtests to graduate from the program and be recommended for certification. 

Please note: There are several GACE Special Education Exams. Be certain you register for the GACE Special Education General Curriculum exam (081, 082, or the 581 if you choose to take both subtests back-to-back). WGU cannot accept any other Special Education exam to satisfy certification requirements. 

 

3) WGU Program RequirementPraxis 5543, Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications. 

If you matriculated after 9/1/2011, you must pass this exam to graduate from the program and be recommended for certification.


4) Licensure Exam Requirement: Georgia Educator Ethics—Program Exit (360). You will find instructions on how to register for the Georgia Educator Ethics – Program Exit (360) here. This assessment is not required for graduation from your program, however, it is required before you will be recommended for certification.
