Idaho Teacher and Administrator Certification Application Information and Instructions

To be eligible for recommendation by the Certification Office, students completing a bachelor’s degree, a post baccalaureate teacher preparation program, or a Master of Science in Special Education program must graduate and have their degree posted to their WGU transcript.  Students who are pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching degree must have marks of "passed” on their Degree Plan for all teacher preparation assessments including all program required Praxis exams and all state required exams.

Idaho Licensure Application Instructions:
 
Step 1: Request official transcripts in sealed envelopes from every college or university you have attended. Two official WGU transcripts will be sent to you along with your diploma upon graduation. If you would like to order additional transcripts, see WGU Transcript Request

Step 2: Download and complete the Application Form B-1.

Step 3a: If you are applying for a teacher certificate:
 

E-mail licensure@wgu.edu requesting WGU's Licensure Office complete an Idaho Institutional Recommendation for an Idaho Education Credential Form

WGU's Licensure Office will complete the form and mail it back to you in a sealed envelope.


Step 3b: If you are applying for an administrator certificate:

i. E-mail licensure@wgu.edu and request an Idaho Institutional Recommendation for an Idaho Education Credential Form be completed.

WGU's Licensure Office will complete the form and mail it back to you in a sealed envelope.

ii. Get a Professional Experience Report completed- Form B6

Professional experience gained while holding a teaching certificate is the only experience accepted.

Applicants for an administrator certificate are required to verify a minimum of four years of certificated experience in a K-12 setting.

 

Step 4: Send an email to fingerprintrequest@sde.idaho.gov with your mailing address to obtain an Idaho State Department of Education fingerprint card. 

Once you receive the fingerprint packet, take it to your local police department or sheriff’s office and have your prints rolled on the card. Please also have them fill out the necessary forms that go with it.

 

Step 5: Official Praxis score report

If you had your Praxis score report sent directly to the Idaho State Department of Education, you still need to send a printed score report as part of your application as Idaho is unable to accept electronic scores.

 

Step 6: Fees

Application fee is $75

Background Check fee is $27

Checks and money orders are to be made payable to State Department of Education.

One check or money order in the amount of $107 for both the application fee and the background check fee is acceptable.

Credit Cards are not accepted.
