Illinois Basic Skills Requirement

 

Basic Skills Exam: Praxis 5751, Core Academic Skills for Educators Tests

Prior to 8/8/2019: ACT, SAT, or ILTS Test of Academic Proficiency (TAP) (400), If passed before June 30, 2019;

ICTS Basic Skills (300), if passed between September 1, 2010 and December 21, 2011;
ICTS Basic Skills (096), if passed before September 1, 2010

 

Students may mix and match subtests of different exams to satisfy the basic skills requirement.

 

While the Illinois Department of Education no longer requires a basic skills exam for certification for applicants after 8/8/2019, WGU requires that all students in the Teachers College take and pass a basic skills test.

ACT & SAT Exam Option

 

Please email licensure@wgu.edu for information about passing scores on the ACT/SAT. If using the ACT/SAT, a writing component must be included.
