Illinois Basic Skills Requirement

Basic Skills Exam: 

Beginning July 1, 2019 the ACT or SAT must be taken and passed to meet the Basic Skills Requirement. You must take the writing assessment as part of these tests in order for the test to be accepted for certification in Illinois. 

ILTS Test of Academic Proficiency (TAP) (400), If passed before June 30, 2019;

ICTS Basic Skills (300), if passed between September 1, 2010 and December 21, 2011;
ICTS Basic Skills (096), if passed before September 1, 2010

Illinois requires its own basic skills examination for initial licensure. Until June 30, 2019,  Illinois requires the ILTS Test of Academic Proficiency (400).  Beginning July 1, 2019, Illinois will require specific scores on the ACT or SAT as the basic skills examination. WGU students planning to license in Illinois must pass the examination within the first 6 months of entering the Foundations of Teaching (FOT) domain at WGU. This test fulfills WGU's basic skills requirement.
