IL Master of Arts in Mathematics Education (MAME) Certification and Exam Requirements

Illinois Master of Arts in Mathematics Education (MAME) Certification and Exam Requirements

While students in initial teacher preparation programs must obtain a license in Utah before applying for certification in Illinois, students in endorsement programs, like the MAME program, seeking an endorsement at the same grade level of the initial endorsement,  may apply directly to Illinois for certification.

In Illinois, WGU's Master of Arts in Mathematics Education (Secondary) program leads to a Mathematics, Grades 6-12 endorsement.

Students should not enroll in the Master of Arts in Mathematics Education (Middle Grades) endorsement program at WGU. Illinois requires the completion of additional middle-school pedagogy coursework to teach in grades 6-8.  WGU does not offer these courses. For more information, please review the Middle Grades Endorsement Requirements in Illinois in effect prior to 2/1/2018. For middle grades endorsement information after 2/1/2018, please see Middle Grades Teaching Endorsements

Refer to the Adding an Endorsement to an Illinois Teaching Certificate for information on how to add new areas to your license in Illinois.
