Note Regarding Field Experiences and Licensure
In order to comply with the robust standards established by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, your field experiences may include observing and participating in both middle and high school mathematics classrooms. These dual-level classroom settings will allow you to develop a broader experiential base of knowledge, skills, effective approaches to mathematics teaching and learning, and professional behaviors for both middle and high school student populations.
While your field experiences will include placement in both middle and high school mathematics classrooms, the teaching license for which you will be eligible upon completion of your secondary mathematics teacher preparation program may not include a middle level mathematics endorsement or license area.
If you are interested in learning more about adding a middle level mathematics endorsement area after you earn your initial teaching license, you may consult the WGU Student Handbook or contact WGU’s Licensure Office.
