KY ESL Endorsement Certification and Exam Requirements - Reciprocity Pathway

Kentucky ESL Endorsement and Exam Requirements - Reciprocity Pathway

The Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) requires graduates from an out-of-state institution, like WGU, to obtain a license in the home-state of the program (Utah) prior to applying for a license in Kentucky.

In Kentucky, this program leads to an endorsement in English as a Second Language, Primary through Grade 12

Content Exam: Praxis 5362, English to Speakers of Other Languages (beginning 9/1/2017)

Or, if passed on or before 8/31/2017, Praxis 5361, English to Speakers of Other Languages

You must pass either Praxis 5362 or 5361 to graduate and be recommended for your endorsement.

Either exam also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement.

Practicum: All WGU students in an ELL program must complete a 30 hour practicum. If you wish to receive a K-12 endorsement, you need to do your practicum at the K-12 level.
