Kentucky Secondary Science Certification and Exam Requirements - Reciprocity Pathway


The Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) requires graduates from an out-of-state institution, like WGU, to obtain a license in the home-state of the program (Utah) prior to applying for a license in Kentucky.  


In Kentucky, WGU's initial teacher preparation program in science lead to a license in one of the following areas:
 

Biology, Grades 8-12
Chemistry, Grades 8-12
Earth Science, Grades 8-12
Physics, Grades 8-12


Content and Program Required ExamsAll Praxis exams must be less than five years old at the time you apply for Kentucky licensure.

 Content Exam: Praxis 5235 Biology: Content Knowledge.

 This content exam also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement.
 Pedagogy Exam: Praxis 5624 Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades 7-12

 This pedagogy exam is not required for graduation, but is required to receive a license recommendation from WGU.

 


  Chemistry


 Content Exam: Praxis 5245 Chemistry: Content Knowledge

 This content exam also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement.
 Pedagogy Exam: Praxis 5624 Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades 7-12

 This pedagogy exam is not required for graduation, but is required to receive a license recommendation from WGU.


  Earth Science 


 Content Exam: Praxis 5571 Earth and Space Sciences: Content Knowledge

 This content exam also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement.
 Pedagogy Exam: Praxis 5624 Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades 7-12

 This pedagogy exam is not required for graduation, but is required to receive a license recommendation from WGU.

 


  Physics


 Content Exam: Praxis 5265 Physics: Content Knowledge

 This content exam also satisfies the WGU Program Requirement.
 Pedagogy Exam: Praxis 5624 Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades 7-12
