Louisiana Educators may add endorsements to their license by completing Praxis exam and/or completing additional coursework.  Louisiana's official add-on policy can be found here. MA Mathematics Education (MAME)

A) Adding an Endorsement at the Same Grade Level (Secondary > Secondary)


Louisiana Secondary Educators may add endorsements to their license by passing an additional Praxis exam in the new subject area. Refer to the checklist for each subject by using the drop down menu under “Add-on & Ancillary Endorsements” here.



B) Adding an Endorsement at a New Grade Level (Elementary > Secondary)


Louisiana Elementary, Middle Grades, or Special Education Educators may add secondary endorsements to their license by either passing both a Praxis pedagogy (PLT) exam AND the appropriate content exam, or by completing 30 credit hours in the new content area. Refer to the checklist for each subject by using the drop down menu under “Add-on & Ancillary Endorsements” here.

 


MS Special Education (MSSP)



Louisiana Educators who wish to add a Mild to Moderate endorsement to their existing license must pass the appropriate Praxis content exam and complete the specific coursework listed on the checklist under “Add-on & Ancillary Endorsements” here. 

 


English Language Learning (ENDELL, MAELL)

 


To add the English as a Second Language endorsement to your existing certificate, you must complete 12 specific semester hours of coursework as described on this checklist.

 


APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Request official transcripts in sealed envelopes from every college where you completed coursework applicable to the endorsement sought. Two official WGU transcripts will be sent to you along with your diploma upon graduation. Click here to order additional WGU Transcripts. 

Step 2: Download and complete the Certification Update Application.

Step 3: Send the completed certification update application, transcript(s), Professional Conduct Form, Praxis score report (if required for the requested endorsement area), and a check or money order for $25 made payable to the Louisiana Department of Education to:
