Basic Skills Exam - Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators: Combined Test (5751)

Or, if passed prior to 8/31/2014, Praxis I Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST)

The Louisiana Department of Education has established the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators Test (Core) in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics as the state-required basic skills exam.  You are required to pass all three sections of the Core basic skills examination within the first six months of entering the Foundations of Teaching (FOT) domain at WGU.

Louisiana's minimum passing scores for Praxis Core or PPST can be found here.

To ensure WGU receives your Praxis Core scores, add WGU (Recipient Code #4944) as an official score recipient when you register for Praxis Core. You may wish to consider consulting the Registering for Praxis Exams article.

Alternate Basic Skills Options:
Louisiana's basic skills requirement can also be satisfied with either ACT or SAT:
  • ACT composite score of at least 22
  • SAT combined verbal/critical reading and math score of at least 1100 (if taken March 2016 or after)
  • SAT combined verbal/critical reading and math score of at least 1030 (if taken prior to March 2016)
