MA BA Special Education Mild to Moderate Certification and Exam Requirements

BA Special Education Mild to Moderate Certification and Exam Requirements

In Massachusetts, completion of this program leads to a Provisional Certificate in  Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities Pk-8 or Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities 5-12

1) Content Exam for Special Education: MTEL General Curriculum (03) (Multi-Subject and Mathematics Subtests). You must pass this exam in order to graduate from your program and be recommended for certification.

NOTE: Massachusetts doesn't require a SPED-specific exam for certification in Special Education. WGU students must pass the General Curriculum exam requirement because Massachusetts will accept it for SPED licensure in Elementary and Secondary areas, and it most closely aligns with the coursework of the BASPMM program.

2) Pedagogy Exam: MTEL Foundations of Reading (90)

You must pass this exam in order to be recommended for certification.

3) WGU Program Requirement: Praxis 5543 Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications
You must pass this exam in order to graduate from your program.
