Massachusetts ESL Endorsement and Exam Requirements

In Massachusetts, this program leads to an endorsement in English as a Second Language, PK-6 or 5-12. You will be eligible for an ESL endorsement at the same level of your current Massachusetts teaching certificate (either grades PK-6 or 5-12)


WGU Program Required Exam: a) Praxis 5362, English to Speakers of Other Languages or b)  Praxis 5361, English to Speakers of Other Languages

You must pass this exam to graduate from this program.


Massachusetts Content Exam: MTEL English as a Second Language (54)

You must pass this exam to be recommended for an ESL endorsement.

Practicum: All WGU students in an ELL program must complete a 30 hour practicum. If you wish to receive either a grades PK-6 or 5-12 endorsement, you need to do your practicum at either the PK-6 or 5-12 level.
