Certified Maryland educators may add subjects/fields to their MD teaching certificates by either completing an approved program in the new certification area, completing 30 semester hours and assessments if applicable, or by submitting a qualifying score on the appropriate Praxis content assessment. No pedagogy assessment is required to add an endorsement to a professional MD certificate. To add an endorsement via a credit count, submit the following to MSDE:

Note: The requirements to add an endorsement in Maryland are the same, whether you are adding an endorsement at a new grade level (Elementary to Secondary) or the same grade level (Secondary to Secondary).
