Alternative Basic Skills Exams

You can use the following alternative exams to meet the Basic Skills Requirement upon the noted conditions.

Retired:  Praxis I Pre-Professional Skills Tests, PPST

If you achieved a minimum composite score of 527 before to 9/1/2014, you can use the Praxis I Pre-Professional Skills Tests (PPST) exam to satisfy the Basic Skills Requirement.

Basic Skills Alternative: SAT 

If you achieved a minimum composite score of 1000 (Math and Verbal) before to 4/1/1995, you can use the SAT exam to satisfy the Basic Skills Requirement.

If you achieve a minimum composite score of 1100 (math and verbal OR math and critical reading) between 4/1/1995-12/31/2018, you can use the SAT exam to satisfy the Basic Skills Requirement.

If you achieve a minimum composite score of 1180 (Evidence-Based Reading & Writing and Math) after 1/1/2019, you can use the SAT exam to satisfy the Basic Skills Requirement.

Basic Skills Alternative:  ACT English/Writing and Mathematics 

You can use this exam to satisfy the Basic Skills Requirement if you achieve a minimum combined score of 24.

Basic Skills Alternative:  GRE General Test

If you achieved a minimum composite score of 1000 before 9/1/2011, you can use the GRE exam to satisfy the Basic Skills Requirement.

If you achieved a minimum composite score of 297 after 9/1/2011, you can use the GRE exam to satisfy the Basic Skills Requirement.
