BA Special Education Mild to Moderate Certification and Exam Requirements

In Maine, this program leads to a Conditional Certificate in Teacher of Children with Disabilities K-8 or 7-12

1) Special Education Content Exam: Praxis 5354 Special Education: Core Knowledge and Applications

You must pass this exam to graduate from your program and be recommended for certification
 (Or, if passed prior to 9/1/2010: Praxis II 0353, Education of Exceptional Students: Core Content Knowledge)

2) WGU Program Required Exam
: Praxis 5543, Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications

You must pass this exam to graduate from your program and be recommended for certification

(for students who matriculated on 9/1/2011 or after)
 

3) Pedagogy Exam: Praxis 5622, Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades K-6 or Praxis 5624, Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades 7 - 12.

You must pass this test to be recommended for certification.
