Maine Basic Skills Requirement

Basic Skills Exam: Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators: Combined Test (5751).

  • If passed prior to 9/30/2013, the Praxis I:  Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST). The Maine Department of Education will only accept Praxis I: Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) to meet Maine's basic skills requirement for applications received on or before 8/31/2018. 


The Maine Department of Education has established the Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core) Test in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics as the state-required basic skills exam.  You must pass all three sections of the Core within the first six months of entering the Foundations of Teaching (FOT)  domain at WGU.  

Go to http://www.ets.org/praxis for information on test dates, fees, and registration. The minimum required scores for Maine can be found by reviewing the ME Praxis Exam Requirements.

To ensure that WGU receives your scores and can verify your eligibility for DT, you must fax a copy of your official score report to the Assessments Office at 1-801-606-7021 or email a scanned copy to scores@wgu.eduIf you uploaded your official basic skills passing scores as part of your DT application, you do not need to fax or email your scores separately.
