Maine MS Special Education Certification and Exam Requirements

In Maine, this program leads to a Teacher of Students with Disabilities K-8 or 7-12 endorsement.

1) WGU Program Requirement: Praxis 5543, Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications

If you matriculated after 9/1/2011, you must pass this exam to graduate from this program.

 

2) Maine Content Exam: Praxis 5354 Special Education: Core Knowledge and Applications

You must pass this exam to be recommended for a Special Education endorsement
      Praxis 5353, Education of Exceptional Students: Core Content Knowledge (if passed on or before 8/31/2010)

3) Maine Pedagogy Exam: You may pass either
1) Praxis 5622, Principals of Learning and Teaching K-6 for K-8 certification OR
2) Praxis 5624, Principals of Learning and Teaching 7-12 for 7-12 certification

You must pass one of these exams to be recommended for a Special Education endorsement
