Adding a Supplemental Endorsement to a Mississippi Teaching License
Mississippi Educators may add Supplemental Endorsements to their license either passing the appropriate Praxis content exam, completing a state-approved program, or completing 21 credits in the new area. Different requirements apply to different endorsement areas. Refer to the Supplemental Endorsement Page of the MS Department of Education as well as Appendix A: Supplemental Endorsements in the MS Licensure Guidelines.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC INFORMATION
How to Add an Additional Endorsement
MA Mathematics Education (MAME)
MA Science Education (MASE)
MS Special Education (MSSP)
Mississippi educators may add supplemental endorsements in mathematics, science, and Special Education (mild/moderate) by passing the appropriate Praxis content exam. The requirements to add an endorsement are the same whether you are adding an endorsement at a new grade level (Elementary to Secondary) or the same grade level (Secondary to Secondary).
English Language Learning (ENDELL, MAELL)
The English as a Second Language endorsement may be added after completing a state-approved endorsement program, such as an ELL program from WGU.
Step 1: Request official transcripts in sealed envelopes from every college where you completed coursework applicable to the endorsement sought. Two copies of your final WGU transcript will be sent to you along with your diploma upon graduation. If you would like to order additional transcripts, see WGU Transcript Request. Do not request a transcript until you have received notice of graduation, so that your graduation date will appear on your transcript. Be sure to leave your transcripts in the sealed envelopes to be included with your application packet
Step 2: Download and review the Licensure Application Packet. You are encouraged to apply online.
Step 3: Those who have completed an ELL or Special Education endorsement program must write to email@example.com and request that the WGU Certification Officer complete the Institutional Verification Form. The form will be sent back to the student in a sealed envelope for inclusion in the application packet.
Step 4: Compile all application documents:
1. Checklist from the application packet (unless you apply online),
2. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities where endorsement coursework was completed,
3. Institutional Program Verification form (if applicable),
4. Application form,
5. Official PRAXIS or SLLA score report (if you did not list the Mississippi Department of Education as a recipient of your score report, you must include the official score report in your application packet. Copies are not accepted)
Step 5: Mail application documents to
