Mississippi Pre-Service Teaching Certificate Required
After you've obtained the results of your Mississippi Department of Public Safety fingerprint background clearance, and at least one month before your Demonstration Teaching (DT) start date, you must begin the process of obtaining a Mississippi Pre-Service Teaching License. The application process includes completing an application form, obtaining a Program Verification form from the WGU Licensure Office, and submitting the forms to the Mississippi Department of Education with the results of your Mississippi Department of Public Safety background check.
THE APPLICATION PROCESS
1) At least one month prior to your anticipated DT start date, complete, print, and sign the Mississippi Pre-Service Teaching License Application.
2) Email firstname.lastname@example.org to request completion of the student teaching license Institutional Program Verification form. In your email please verify your current mailing address because the form will be mailed to you for inclusion in your application packet.
3) Mail the completed and signed Mississippi Pre-Service Teaching License Application, the student teaching license Institutional Program Verification form still enclosed in its sealed envelope, and the results of your Mississippi Department of Public Safety background check to:

There is no fee to apply for the Mississippi Pre-Service Teaching License Application, and it is valid for five years. You'll be notified by an email from the Mississippi Department of Education when your Pre-Service Teaching License is issued.
