North Carolina Early Childhood Education Certification and Exam Requirements

In North Carolina, this program leads to a Professional Educator License in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education: Birth through Kindergarten.

 

1) Content Exam for North Carolina Certification:  Praxis 5025, Early Childhood Education (to be "highly qualified" to teach kindergarten).

You must pass this exam to graduate from the program and be recommended for certification.

OR, if passed prior to 9/1/15: Praxis 5022, Early Childhood: Content Knowledge. The Praxis 5022 will not be accepted after 8/31/18.

  

2) WGU Program Required Exam: a) Praxis 5018, Elementary Education: Content Knowledge OR b) Praxis 5001, Elementary Education: Multiple SubjectsOR c) Praxis 5014 Elementary Education: Content Knowledge OR d) Praxis 5031 Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects

If you matriculated 3/1/2012, or later, you must pass one of these exams to graduate and be recommended for certification.
