North Dakota Administrator Certification Application Information and Instructions

Those who complete an out of state approved program for educational leadership like WGU's can apply directly for a North Dakota elementary or secondary principal credential. Follow the steps below to prepare your application packet.

Step 1: Obtain an official copy of your final WGU transcript. Two copies of your final WGU transcript will be sent to you along with your diploma upon graduation. If you would like to order additional transcripts, see WGU Transcript Request. Do not request a transcript until you have received notice of graduation, so that your graduation date will appear on your transcript. Be sure to leave your transcripts in the sealed envelopes to be included with your application packet.

Step 2: Obtain a letter of recommendation signed by a supervisor or employer who has firsthand knowledge of your professional work, experience, and service.

Step 3: Apply for Your License Online and complete sections A, B, and D, In section B you need to evidence three years of certificated teaching experience at the level  (elementary or secondary) for which you are applying for administrative licensure.  Please note that only ND colleges and universities can provide a letter of verification. For those who complete an out of state approved educational leadership program, the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction will verify that the academic standards for the license requested have been met.

Step 4: Submit in one application packet the application form, transcript, and letter of recommendation to:
