Utah license required for completers of all initial licensure programs.



Early Childhood Education, Birth-Grade 3

Elementary Education, Grades 1-8

Special Education K-12

Secondary Social Studies: Composite, Grades 5-12

Secondary Mathematics, Grades 5-12

Secondary Science: Biology, Grades 5-12

Secondary Science: Chemistry, Grades 5-12

Secondary Science: Earth Science, Grades 5-12

Secondary Science: Physics, Grades 5-12

North Dakota has the following general requirements for all applicants for initial teacher certification who have completed an out-of-state teacher preparation program and are applying via a reciprocal teaching license:

1. RECIPROCITY/OUT-OF-STATE LICENSE: Hold a valid teaching license in the state in which the teacher preparation program was completed (see Utah Certification Requirements).

2. DEGREE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution, including a major that meets the issuing jurisdiction's requirements in elementary education, middle level education, or a content area taught in public high school.

3. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: Completion of a state approved teacher preparation program.

4. BACKGROUND CLEARANCE: Completion of the required background checks.

5. BASIC SKILLS REQUIREMENT: Passing scores on the required basic skills exam.

6. EXAM REQUIREMENTS: Passing scores on the required Praxis content and pedagogy exams.
