North Dakota Secondary Science Certification and Exam Requirements

 

WGU initial licensure students who want to become certified in North Dakota need to first license in Utah after completing their teacher preparation program. A student can then apply for a reciprocal license in North Dakota after receiving their Utah license. Refer to the following for specific state requirements: general Utah teacher certification requirements and general North Dakota teacher certification requirements.

In North Dakota, this program leads to a license in one of the following areas:  

Biology, Grades 5-12
Chemistry, Grades 5-12
Earth Science, Grades 5-12
Physics, Grades 5-12

Content Exam: Praxis 5235, Biology, Content Knowledge

This exam is required for graduation and recommendation for licensure.

This exam also meets the WGU program requirement.

Content Exam: Praxis 5245, Chemistry: Content Knowledge

This exam is required for graduation and recommendation for licensure.

This exam also meets the WGU program requirement.

 

Science 5-12, Earth Science


Content Exam: Praxis 5571, Earth and Space Science: Content Knowledge

This exam is required for graduation and recommendation for licensure.

This exam also meets the WGU program requirement.

 

Science 5-12, Physics


Content Exam: Praxis 5265, Physics: Content Knowledge

This exam is required for graduation and recommendation for licensure.

This exam also meets the WGU program requirement.
