New Hampshire Certification Requirements & Available Licenses

Early Childhood Education, N-3

Elementary Education, K-6

General Special Education, Ages 5-21

Mathematics, Middle Level

Science, Grades 5-8

Social Studies, Grades 5-12

Mathematics, Upper Level

Secondary Science: Life Science, Grades 7-12

Secondary Science: Chemistry, Grades 7-12

Secondary Science: Earth/Space Science, Grades 7-12

New Hampshire has the following general requirements for all applicants for initial teacher certification who have completed their teacher preparation at an out-of-state institution:

1. DEGREE: At least a bachelor's degree.

2. PROGRAM: Completion of a program that is approved to lead to teacher certification in the home-state of the program.

3. BASIC SKILLS EXAM: Passing scores on the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators: Combined Test (5751).


4. CONTENT EXAM: Passing scores on all of the required Praxis content exams.
