You should sign up to take your basic skills examination when you begin studying Foundations of Teaching to ensure that you have time to complete the examination prior to enrollment in Effective Teaching Practices.

The basic skills requirement for New Jersey students can also be satisfied by having received a qualifying score on the SAT, ACT, or GRE. WGU requires that all New Jersey students in the Teachers College take and pass one of these basic skills tests prior to or within the first 6 months of entering the Foundations of Teaching (FOT) domain.
Students who took the SAT before 4/1/1995 must have received a score 480 or higher on Verbal and 520 or higher on Math. Students who took the SAT between 4/1/1995 and 2/28/2016 must have received a score of 560 or higher on Verbal and 540 or higher on Math. If taken on or after 3/1/2016 must have received a score of 610 or higher on Evidence-Based Reading and Writing or 30 or higher on the Reading Section and 570 or higher on Math.
Students who took the ACT before 8/28/1989 must have received a score of at least 20 English and 23 Math. Students who took the ACT on or after 8/28/1989 must have received a score of at least 23 English and 23 Math.
Students who took the GRE before 8/1/2011 must have received a score of at least 530 Verbal and 720 Quantitative. Students who took the GRE on or after 8/1/2011 must have received a score of at least 155 Verbal and 156 Quantitative.
